Tarot cards are strange, strange things.
I had a tarot card reading today. It was about my future.

How it worked, was the reader had me shuffle the deck very thoroughly and then when I was ready, I cut the deck, placed the lower half on top and then put the first twelve cards (face down) on the table to make a circle like this:

    11  10
12             9
1               8
2               7
3               6
    4      5

The first card represents my personality. The remaining eleven were to collectively signify either my past, present or future. Mine happened to represent my future.

The personality card was the High Priestess. She represents intuition, power, secret knowledge (withheld/introspective)  and all about keeping ideas hidden. She is skilled, self-reliant, confident and is the embodiment of obscure knowledge and can come across cold, unpredictable and even scary -- Sounds like me all right. No big deal. The rest followed as such:

2.) Hanged Man - You need to sacrifice something you love in order to find illumination; a greater purpose for yourself. -- I took this as representing my giving up a full-time career in music in order to fully pursue law.
3.) The Star - Reveals the future, being full of prosperity and happiness. -- This is what I took to happen after I become a lawyer.
4.) Seven of Cups - The card of choices. You will be presented with many choices "cups", most of which being illusions and deceptions. You will be faced with many paths to follow, but only when you stop and give it deep consideration will you choose the right "cup". There is also a warning of materialistic greed. You may be tempted to choose based on what you "want" rather than what you "need". -- I took this to mean the types of law to study, and the types of paths I can following doing such. Not all lawyers are crooked, but the stereotype does derive itself from some truth.
5.) Ace of Pentacles - Representing great wealth and happiness. This is often the result of something long desired. The end of one life is behind you and another awaits its beginning. -- I took this to refer to my becoming successful in my career and living "comfortably" both financially and interpersonally speaking.
6.) The Fool - Represents potential and the desire to accomplish a goal. The embarking on a path toward happiness and abundance. The fool enhances courage and risk-taking in one's life, leading to positive outcomes. -- I think this means I will try a form of law that is different than what I think I may want, or perhaps I will take on a case or client that causes me to go above and beyond myself in order to complete the task.
7.) Page of Cups - Start of a new project or venture. The beginning of a relationship or the start of a new challenging quest - a lot of emotion involved. It can be a warning not to bite off more than you can chew in your passion to go forward. The time is not right and you are not ready or fully prepared. -- Perhaps I will take on too much emotionally with my work.
8.) Ten of Swords - A difficult loss, one has hit rock bottom. You will be faced with a mental dispute, one of which you will most likely fail and falter because of it. Fear, poverty and sorrow will overcome you and search for a way out. This is not, however, permanent. Change is in the air and you can overcome it if you are in the right mentality. -- Maybe I'll do something immoral or unlawful?
9.) The Chariot - Victory reached by cheating or immoral means - an overinflated ego is apparent. You will be forced to look at your current situation as a failure. You will want control and victory, but will lose and have to face the consequences. -- At this point in the reading I started to get a tad concerned.
10.) Five of Pentacles - Indicates failure and loss of material possessions and monetary funds. You materialism is too high and is in need of reconsideration. It also can represent social rejection and isolation from those you love. You have fallen to the ground, your faith in yourself has faltered and you feel alone in the world. -- ....
11.) Ace of Wands - Represents new business venture or career. A clean slate is being offered, one to start anew. Do not second guess yourself. Go forward with your idea and pursue it. -- Is this suggesting I will leave law?
12.) Queen of Swords - A stern intellectual thought process void of any emotion, this card represents the intellect's ability to judge and discern impartially, without the influence of subjectivity or sentimentality. The past is behind you and the future is unclear, so you need to think with your head and not your heart for it will only cloud your judgment. Impartiality is key. You need to be independent and free of empathy for it will distract you. Ambitious and uncompromising, the Queen of Swords stands by her aspirations and lets nobody stand in her way.

Well, it looks like I ran full circle, doesn't it? I start strong and confident and end strong and confident, and even more cold and scary it seems.

So what does this all mean? The reading told me that I am going to follow what I believe is a "higher power" over "what I love" only to amass a great fortune and status which will build a great ego and materialistic approach to life, which will end in my becoming corrupt and crumbling to the ground only to rise up and go back to square one again. This really spooked me. I know I have the capability to do dark things - we all do. I have always known I am weak when it comes to doing "the right thing," even though I have spent my entire life trying to do just that. Are the cards saying that I will one day give into that temptation and ruin my life because of it? It really scared me, so I asked the cards a question: "What if I don't give into materialism and ego. How will my future turn out?" I had to draw three more cards and place them in the middle of the circle. They were as such:

1.) The Knight of Wands - An energetic and ambitious character, the Knight is a growth card; movement into another direction in life. It also represents positive energy toward a set goal. This energy may be misdirected and could hurt the Knight or those around him - it's all a matter of balance that, if achieved, will result in success.
2.) Wheel of Fortune - A pivot in your life has occurred. Change is in the air and it is in your favour! You may not have complete control, but the situation outcome will be positive.
3.) The Magician - A card of creative power. You have the creative power to make your dreams a reality, so go for it. The Magician tells us that we have the power to manifest our desires and make them a reality, for you are the ultimate achiever and can do anything.

It's interesting how the cards turned out that way. I wonder how accurate these readings are, because my brothers and dad also had their cards read and it was extremely accurate for all of them. None of their cards read destruction and desolation though ...

Some people swear by tarot cards, others put it in the same category as the Ouija board. I'm not sure how it works, or if it does at all but I must admit it really spooked me.

These types of things always spook me when they seem really accurate and detailed. My horoscopes are usually dead on (The ones on Facebook.) They even predicted when I liked someone. It was like, "You're realizing you're beginning to really like someone" and such stuff like that and the day before that I was telling people how I was starting to take an interest in Heather. Even my friend Jessica was beginning to like someone at that time too and was just realizing it. It was strange. (We are both Libras.)

But of course, I still fully believe that you are in control of what happens to you. If you have this information now, you can make sure you make choices to avoid the outcome of becoming corrupt and so forth. =D You really helped me learn that you can control how things end up depending on how you look at things. I don't think you'll become corrupt like this is saying, especially since you have the knowledge to change that sort of outcome.

=D But yea, that's crazy stuff.

I had mine done on my birthday and the woman was ridiculous! She told me everything that was going on in my life, in detail and then about my future. it was so spooky and heart wrenching that I cried but it was definitely the best experience ever.
